THE ART
Block Printing

Our textile designs celebrate the rich heritage of block printing, a technique that has endured through centuries, preserving tradition while embracing eco-conscious practices.

Each textile crafted through block printing tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship and dedication. The process begins with intricately carved wooden blocks which will combine to create beautiful scenes and patterns. Cassandra works with master artisans, painstakingly mixing dyes by hand to create precise colours, hues and tones. The wooden blocks are dipped in the dye and then pressed and stamped onto natural cottons and pure linens. The pattern is created by layering each block, one print at a time and one colour at a time. It’s a journey that unfolds slowly, demanding patience and precision. The entire process takes 2.5 hours for a skilled printer to create 1 meter of fabric. Every step in the process is a labor of love.

In a world where automation dominates, our commitment to hand creation sets us apart. By employing traditional block printing methods, the human touch brings life to our textiles.

From the design concept to the finished product, the process of block printing is deliberate and unhurried. We honour the environment by making to order and minimising waste. It takes time—a luxury in today's fast-paced world. But within that time, something extraordinary happens.

A connection forms between the artisan, the materials, and the final creation, resulting in textiles that are imbued with history, authenticity, and a sense of purpose.
